James Stretton and Iain Jackson do a large number of performances of their very entertaining and enjoyable Brassed Up show every year. They include a wide range of varied repertoire in these concerts and James plays an amazing array of different (and sometimes unfamiliar) brass instruments as well as his trumpet. He recently asked me to write a short, serious piece for inclusion in his series and Misterioso , at 5/6 minutes is the result of this request. I see it as the first movement of a 3 movement Sonata.

The attached performance is a midi simulation which will be replaced by a recording made on real instruments just as soon as it is available.
