Other Information

Summer with Monika  (1982) for (male) narrator, flute, alto saxophone, trombone, violin, viola, cello and percussion. The work won the composition prize at the University of Huddersfield School of Music  for an abridged setting of a tragic tale told in forty-two poems by Roger McGough, published in 1978. A central, male character narrates the poems which tell an emotional story of the deterioration of his relationship with his lover, who has recently become his wife, accompanied by a mixed ensemble. I played the part of the narrator in the first performance at St. Paul’s Hall, Huddersfield in 1982.
