Solos and Blues (1985) for clarinet, horn, trumpet, vibes/marimba, percussion (2), guitar, violin, cello, double bass. As its name suggests, the work consists of five virtuosic solo sections by different instruments of the ensemble, preceded by an unaccompanied piano solo, from where the work originates. The Solos are followed by the Blues, played by the whole ensemble. The work was first performed by Keele New Music Ensemble at Keele University in 1985.

N.B. Solos and Blues is also arranged for alto saxophone, piano, vibes/marimba, guitar, violin, cello and double bass.
