Comments on Anniversary Overture -
.....personally speaking, I think it s GREAT and just want we want!
Something for both orchestra and audience to get their teeth into and enjoy. Thank you! Richard Reakes, Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra.
The orchestra s 40th anniversary concert got off to a truly festive start with the Anniversary Overture composed for the occasion by Robert Ramskill.
It s one of those jolly pieces of light music, once ubiquitous on British radio and television.
Ramskill livens it up with a dash of jazz with licks for trumpet and clarinet the latter doffing its cap to Gershwin s Rhapsody in Blue both well taken, and with opportunities for every section of the orchestra to shine. Norman Stinchcombe, Birmingham Post. "What a great piece the Anniversary Overture is! It was a great delight to conduct it." Malcolm Goldring, conductor of the Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra. The link here is to the Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra s world premiere of the piece.
