Other Information ‘Atma’s Flight´ is a 14 minute sonata for cello and piano.
It was premiered by cellist Mitchell Moore at Burgh House, Hampstead, London in 1990, the year it was composed. Other performances include one by Shirley Smart, accompanied by David Wickham, at St James, Piccadilly, London.
Turkish cellist, Gozde Tiknaz, performed this accompanied by the composer at the Lotus Foundation, London, as part of a multi-media performance called ‘Soul’s Journey’. Video artist Kathy Hinde filmed dancers live, projecting the film onto photographic projection behind the live performers, telling the story of the music in image and dance.
Tony Hinnigan (cello player for the Michael Nyman band) plays ‘Atma’s Flight’ on the CD “On Wings of Light” (Charasound).
‘Atma’s Flight is an exploration of Soul’s journey through different a journey of 4 movements, finishing joyfully in the high octaves.
This music will suit grade 8 players and appeal to the professional player looking for contemporary, melodic uplifting repertoire for the cello The sheet music is a beautifully produced glossy booklet. Published in November 2010 it is priced £10 + p&p.
