The day after Remembrance Sunday, there is a special performance of Simon Mold´s song cycle In Memoriam for soprano or tenor and piano at Leicester Cathedral. The recital is one of the exciting lunchtime concerts this season at the Cathedral. Admission is free and the performers are Emma Trounson [soprano] and Dr Chris Ouvry-Johns [piano].

Emma Trounson was born in Leicester in 1988 and growing up in Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, Emma took an interest in Music from a very young age. She participated in the Chanterelles Girls Choir (later the Arts in Education Youth Choir) and the Leicestershire Schools Symphony Orchestra among other local youth ensembles. She attended Kirby Muxloe Primary School, Brookvale High School and Groby Community College. Emma read for a BA (Hons) in Music and French at the University of Bristol and graduated in 2010. In 2012, Emma graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with an MA in Choral Conducting. Emma currently works as a Choral Director for Leicester Cathedral, where she coaches the Cathedral choirs.

Christopher Ouvry-Johns began his musical career as a chorister at Derby Cathedral.  He was a Choral Exhibitioner at Jesus College, Cambridge, where he read Modern and Mediaeval Languages and then completed an MPhil in Linguistics, and then spent five years living in Germany, first as Assistant Choirmaster at Osnabrück Cathedral and then as a student of Church Music in Düsseldorf.  He returned to the UK in 2003 to study for a PhD in Linguistics at Durham, where he was Cathedral Organ Scholar and Conductor of the University Orchestra. Before joining Leicester Cathedral, Christopher was Choral Director in the Diocese of Leeds (based at Leeds Cathedral), Conductor of Tees Valley Youth Orchestra, and Deputy Chorus Master of Leeds Philharmonic Society.
