Texts by the composer, who at rare moments is moved to express himself through poetry: a dozen or so poems in 30 years!  Here, the traditionally sparse texts (as in haiku) are surrounded by vocal and flutic modal elaborations.  Premiered April 2008 by Wendy Nieper, soprano, & Christoher Britton, flute, Holywell Music Room, Oxford.  There was a profound and moving silence at the end of the performance.

The same players performed it again in 2012, even better, Jacqueline du Pre Music Building.
