Written to celebrate the 80th birthday of Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra s chairman (and oboist/cor anglais player for many years), Malcolm Rowson. The orchestra played it at the end of a rehearsal for a concert given on the very day of his birthday (18th October 2014). He was born in Halifax so the idea of this 2-minute tribute is to reflect his Yorkshire origins. The theme from Dvorak s New World Symphony Largo (a well-known Yorkshire theme!) was played on this occasion by Malcolm himself.
