Like Frank Bridge's delightful Miniature, Valse Russe, this arrangement was written for students; but is not actually a student work.  And like the Bridge, its mood is rather wistful!

Brahms of course was very much against his horn trio being arranged with cello; but was much happier with the viola, and I am happy to include a viola part here!
