Other Information

Originally called "Drifting" in 2001 and later "Passing" (the name retained for the 2020 arrangement for F horn and piano), this song was never recorded, and so no record of the work exists in its earliest form.

The words are very poignant:

One day more slips away,
Another high, another low,
One more fraction of me!
So where did it go?
I'd watch the clouds all drifting,
How time stood still.
I've seen a tide turn, watched as rocks gleam new.
Then there was time to kill!
But now each minute, each passing day,
I watch, as clouds go drifting, life speed away.

One day more slips away,
A childhood smile, a childhood fall,
Bring back mem'ries of me,
When I too was small.
I'd watch the clouds all drifting,
How safe my world!
Each bold adventure, safely home for tea.
Then bed all snugly curled.
But now it's my turn, each passing day,
To keep the clouds from gath'ring, the world at bay.

One day more slips away,
Another high, another low,
One more fraction of me!
So where did it go?
