I had the idea of this symphony in my head for several years and made a start in autumn 2019. The Metaphysical concerns things we can't explain and seem to be outside the scope of science. Was there a beginning and will there be an end? Is there anything either side? Is there a spirit at the heart of everything? Music can express something when words are inadequate.

The starting point was a dialogue on these matters by two friends. I set this to music, took out the words and developed the themes.

The four movements are:

1. A Singularity (an audio link to this)

2. Absolute Zero

3. The Great Spirit
